Ploughman’s Rest Self Catering Cottage
Ploughman’s Rest is the original byre at Winkston Farm, just outside Peebles in the beautiful Tweed Valley. Carefully converted to an exceptionally high standard, it now offers two charming self-catering holiday cottages combining traditional character with modern comfort.
Great care has been taken to preserve the original whin-stone building, creating a warm and welcoming place to relax after a day exploring the Scottish Borders. We’re also proud that our cottages have achieved the Scottish Tourist Board “Access for Residents with Mobility Difficulties” award.
Each cottage sleeps up to four guests and is tastefully decorated with comfortable furnishings, with ongoing upgrades to ensure a truly relaxing stay. On the ground floor you’ll find an open-plan lounge, dining area and fully equipped kitchen, along with a shower room and WC – ideal for couples, families, walkers and cyclists.
It’s perfectly placed for biking at Glentress and Innerleithen and has secure bike storage with drying facilities as well as CCTV. We are also well placed for walkers, golfers and sightseers exploring the Scottish Borders.
Upstairs, the bedroom features zip-and-link beds, allowing you to choose either twin beds or a super-king. A spiral staircase from the lounge leads to a minstrel gallery, providing a second sleeping area with twin beds or a king-size option.
